Jip Wikkerink|Mechanical Engineer
A little over three years ago, I started a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology. During my bachelor's degree, I learned a lot about mathematics and physics related subjects, which are very useful in my current position. At Forze Hydrogen Racing, I got the opportunity to combine my interest in cars and the automotive industry with an opportunity to apply the theories I learned during my bachelor's degree. Besides the fact that it is a wonderful project to work on, it is also a great way to work with and promote sustainable energy in the form of hydrogen and I am very proud to be a part of this fantastic journey.
In my role as Mechanical Engineer at Forze Hydrogen Racing, I am mainly responsible for designing parts for the front and rear drivetrain of the Forze IX, getting these parts produced, assembling them in the car and monitoring their health over time. I use 3D CAD software to design parts and make technical drawings for production, and I use FEA software to validate my designs. Besides that, I am focused on the assembly and maintenance of structural components of the car, like the monocoque and the roll cage. My position also requires me to work closely with various parties during design and manufacturing processes.
